State Meet Highlights - RESULTS
- Brooke Managas, a junior from Ottoville, cleared a US#4 5-10 in the high jump. That is a Division 3 record. - Senior Frank Hayes of Sylvania Southview finished the Division 1 800 in a US#5 time of 1:49.16, a stadium record. - Joe Bistritz won the D2 1,600 in 4:05.62. That is a US#9 time and a meet record for the Chagrin Falls senior. - Senior Tyler Johnson from Stivers set a new meet record and US#11 mark in the D2 400 with his 46.61 win. - Senior Lyne'a Diller of Columbus Grove won the Division 3 discus with a US#12 throw of 159-6. - Abby Steiner, a sophomore from Dublin Coffman, won the Division 1 100 and 200. However, because of the strong headwind during the finals, her best times came in the prelims running, 11.60 and 23.75 respectively. Her 100 time was a stadium record. - Malik Beverly of Cincinnati Northwest, a senior, won the Division 1 110 hurdles and the 200. He ran 13.93 in the hurdle final and 21.31 in the 200 prelim. - Two jumpers cleared 6-10 in the high jump. Junior Albert Kalala of Withrow won the Division 1 competition while senior Jeffery Floyd of Linden McKin won at the Division 2 level. - In the girls Division 1 high jump competition, three girls cleared 5-7. Cassie Martin of Strongsville won with a clean card. Cirrus Robinson of Ashland finished second and J'Alyiea Smith of Withrow was third. Smith, a sophomore, also won the 300 hurdles in 42.44. - Natalie Price a junior of Granville, won the division 1 race of the 400 in 53.95. - Andrew Jordan of Watkins Memorial, an Iowa State commit, won the 3,200 in a stadium record 8:54.96. - Nik Curtiss of Lancaster won the Division 1 shot put with a mark of 65-8.75. However it was not an improvement on his US#9 throw of 66-7.25 from two weeks ago for the senior. - Sam Meece of Napolean won the Division 2 discus with a throw of 191-4. The junior is ranked #11 in the country. - Mark Gooden of Reynoldsburg and Andrew Hallof of Canfield, both seniors, had a close battle in the Division 1 discus. Gooden held the lead after the first three throws, but Hallof moved into the lead when he popped a 189-2 round four throw. Gooden came back and retook the lead with a mark of 189-3 in round five and held on for the victory. - Gahanna Lincoln won the Division 1 girls 4x400 relay in 3:45.48. - The Division 1 boys and girls 4x800 relays both ended up being close and fast. The girls from Gahanna Lincoln narrowly edged the Northville squad, 9:03.73 to 9:03.91. On the boys side, St. Ignatius ran 7:39.23 to beat Dublin Coffman (7:39.93).
Top Teams:
The Withrow girls won the team title with 64 points. The St. Ignatius boys were winners with 52 points.
